The event was co-organized by the National Cheng Kung University Center for Innovative Fintech Business Models and the Sustainable FinTech Alliance (SFTA). The National Cheng Kung University Center for Innovative Fintech Business Models is the only approved research center in Taiwan for the field of financial technology under the first phase of the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Sprout Project. Its objective is to promote global trends in financial technology and advocate for international sustainability initiatives. Recently, the center held its fourth annual international conference, which brought together top experts and scholars from over ten countries, including the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and India. The conference featured both physical and online discussions, covering diverse and forward-looking themes, which had the aim of enhancing digital financial literacy, financial technology capabilities, and green economic knowledge among Taiwanese in order to strengthen financial literacy among the people and popularize sustainable FinTech knowledge (SDGs.4) in a pragmatic manner.

The event comprised of the 4th International Conference on Sustainable FinTech and Supply Chain Management (SFSCM 2023), which was held online on November 9th, and the International Forum on November 14th and 15th. This year’s forum focused on the theme of “Sustainable FinTech and RegTech” and highlighted research achievements and applications of green financial technology in Taiwan’s practical industry and academic circle.

The international conference was now in its fourth edition, and since 2020, it had been attracting large numbers of participants and featuring diverse session topics, with the organization scale reaching record highs. This year’s event not only introduced international trends in green finance and digital technology transformation, but also promoted forward-looking research achievements and technological highlights in collaboration with Taiwan’s financial technology research centers. These initiatives are marketed overseas (SDGs.9), further enhancing Taiwan’s international influence in sustainable financial technology, and established the forum as the most representative ESG FinTech & RegTech international financial event in the central and southern regions of the country.

Mr. Wu Tang-Chieh, Secretary General of the Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable, was invited to be the keynote speaker for the opening session of the two-day international conference. His presentation, titled “Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Financial Competitiveness in Taiwan,” marked the start of the event. The session on the 14th featured guest speakers such as Associate Dean Lin Chung-Wei from the Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance and Fin & Tech, Deputy General Manager Tsao Chih-Fang from Project Development Department of Nan Shan Life, Senior Partner Marcus Hsu from Deloitte & Touche, Partner and Deputy Head of Human Resources Lin Yung-Chih from PwC Taiwan, and Manager Liu Wan-Hsin from Human Resources Department of King’s Town Bank.
