King's Town Bank for Environmental Protection! Living Green and Investing in Our Planet

In response to Earth Day on April 22, King's Town Bank (2809) launched a series of environmentally friendly actions, in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency of the Executive Yuan to promote "green points" and invited branch partners to join the ranks of energy conservation and carbon reduction. Including the continuation of turning off the signboards for three days last year, and inviting surrounding stores to participate, organizing bartering events, and launch "Vegetable Day and No Food Waste Actions," King's Town Bank encourages its partners, customers, and neighboring community residents to take care of our planet in their daily lives.

In recent years, King's Town Bank has paid great attention to environmental protection issues and climate change. In addition to actively becoming a climate-related financial disclosure (TCFD) supporter in July 2021, it also officially became a member of the Equator Principles Association to promote King's Town Bank's plan for sustainable development.  Not only that, we also deeply understand that actions must be taken to slow down global warming. Therefore, the practice of environmental sustainability requires the integration of innovative ideas into daily life, so that the general public can make environmental protection a part of daily life. Therefore, the scope of the "bartering" activity was expanded to neighboring branches this time, with an advocacy for the "3R principle" to extend the life cycle of items and reduce the output of waste. A total of 86 items were successfully exchanged, which saved 172 items from being unnecessary wasted. And in order to encourage colleagues to participate, 1,000 green points were given for each completed exchange. The more exchanges, the more green points. We invite everyone to implement green consumption together. We hope King's Town Bank has a positive influence on our community and become a model of social enterprise with an ESG spirit.

"Earth Day" is approaching its 53rd anniversary this year. The theme for 2023 is "Invest in Our Planet", emphasizing that you and I are all part of the earth, and we should practice green living in our daily lives.

Responding to the theme of 2023 "Investing in the Earth, Natural is Good," King's Town Bank exerts its core competency in finance to actively expand green finance and digital services, and gradually implements low-carbon transformation. In green finance, in addition to continuing to cultivate ESG sustainable industry lending, it also actively invests in green power that is generated by King's Town Bank. In 2022, about 40,540 kWh of power was generated, which reduced carbon emissions by about 20.64 metric tons. In terms of digital services, the bank promotes customers to replace paper bills with electronic bills, reducing the use of about 1.47 million sheets of paper in 2022, which is equivalent to reducing 9.38 metric tons of carbon dioxide emission. Additionally, King's Town Bank actively promotes "Taiwan Pay" and "Street Pay," allowing customers to shop and transfer money by scanning the QR Code or presenting the payment code, avoiding the waste of paper.

In order to add fun to the energy saving and carbon reduction activities, the company also held a "Waste Battery Recycling Competition" within the company. The competition was organized by department, and everyone was invited to work together to implement green life, practice green consumption from our ordinary business and life, and invest in our beautiful blue planet.
